Who is Mama SanDee
Who is Mama SanDee?
Mama was a force. She loved so fiercely; she saw the hurt in others and was willing to literally give the shirt off her back to help. She was a mom, grandma, and great-grand-mama but before all of that she became a wife. Mama met Papa at a very young age and fell madly in love. Mama was so much a mom and wife at a tender young age, she did the best she could to be perfect, and while none of us ever can be truly perfect she put all her efforts into doing so.
Mama never met a stranger, she was always tickled when she was able to make a connection, even shortly before her passing she told the story about being able to connect with some people at the store when she in her limited Spanish vocabulary, was able to make them feel seen. She was so proud of that.
I know everybody talks about how special their mom is. And they are not wrong. But Mama SanDee was special in ways that no one may ever fully understand except maybe those closest to her.
Some things people should know about Mama: first she loved God and Jesus so much. She was such a prayer warrior. The woman would literally break out into a conversation with God mid-sentence while talking to someone! Any time anyone ever needed prayer, Mama was on it! And man-o-man did God hear her!!!
Next, she loved Papa, oh how she loved him! She supported him all his life and loved him beyond any words. Papa had the hardest job one could imagine, calls in the middle of the night and in the middle of a holiday dinner he would be called out and have to leave, but Mama understood. She knew that as much as she and the rest of the family wanted him and needed him others needed Papa more in that moment and she supported him. She not only supported him, but she loved him and respected him for it.
Mama loved fancy and pretty things. Mama loved to see the beauty in God’s creation. She wanted to paint the world beautiful, and she did. Every corner she landed in she painted it so beautifully. Just by her touch.
Mama loved all, but she had a special place in her heart for some special friends, friends who were family. She taught us that! Way before it was cool! She would laugh if someone called her a trend setter! But she showed us all blood is not always thicker than water, family is so much more than found in bloodlines. She gave us the gift of an extended family.
Mama was a girl’s mom; she loved having girls! It fit into her image of being the perfect mom. She could dress her girls up like her little angels. She wasn’t wrong… LOL.
But seriously, Mama tried so hard to be the best Mom straight out of an old book. She made our dresses when we were little and taught us to behave like “little Misses” sadly as we grew up, we sent poor Mama for a tailspin for which she was not prepared. Despite her best efforts not one of us turned out perfect. I kind of think she may have been shocked at some of our imperfections… But she tried so hard to go against her first instincts and loved and accept us for who we were.
She loved her family as it grew. She did the best she knew to adjust to changes… like boys. Mama grew up with sisters, daughters, dresses, and flowers… oh boy oh boy when the first boy came along!!! Mama was not quite sure what to do with a boy!!! She even said after the first ultrasound “What do I do with a boy?” I told her “Mama, you just love him” And she got it… well, sort of. She tried, she tried to connect as best she could by digging in the dirt, to plant FLOWERS, but she really made the effort to “get in the dirt’ with the boys.
Mama, loved, that is the only way I can explain my mom. She loved hard, she expected love in return, and she loved beyond most human capacity… That is a hard thing to live up to.
Mama loved humans and animals. Her love of horses was like a childhood love that only grew throughout her life. She loved to put humans and animals together in a perfect love match, and she was amazing at it.
I appreciate those who have read this to get to know Mama SanDee ….
Mama’s chapters on earth are through, but I know that her new chapter in Heaven has only just begun…
So, how on earth do you close the chapter on a woman who loved so deeply and gave so much of herself to this world and those she has left behind….
The answer: You don’t. Her chapter will continue through this Ministry.
